The Pawserby

About The Pawserby

Led by a group of passionate veterinarian and animal lovers, The Pawserby has been making impactful changes in Malaysia since 2018.

The team recognised the negative social impacts caused by overpopulation of stray animals, and the major causes which lead to the surplus of these animals.

Besides raising awareness on the importance of neutering household pets, The Pawserby has been actively advocating Trap, Neuter, Return and Manage (TNRM) – an internationally-recognised method for reducing stray dog and cat populations in the most humane and effective way.

Based on the concept of Animal Birth Control (ABC), TNRM further prevents many social problems. The team also practices and educates the community on:

  • Responsible feeding of stray animals,
  • Rehoming of adoptable dogs and cats, and
  • Evidence-based management of these stray animals.

TNRM Drive

In a span of 3 years, The Pawserby team has successfully:

  • Neutered more than 300 stray animals (which prevented the proliferation of an additional 20,000 offsprings) through their monthly TNRM programmes.
  • Rehomed 100 stray dogs and cats to loving families

Through their latest non-profit initiative, Food Angel Project, the team has also assisted numerous pet owners, caretakers and feeders across Malaysia who have been struggling to provide food for the animals in face of the COVID-19 pandemic. The project provides pet food aid directly to the recipients’ doorsteps.

The Founder

Dr Melissa Yeow

Having a pretty vast experience as a veterinarian, Dr. Melissa has seen countless number of surgeries – both minor and major – for her animal patients. As a veterinarian who graduated from University Putra Malaysia, Dr Melissa has also been heavily involved in a series of charitable events, several of which is in conjunction with SPCA, Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

The Pawserby started with a casual conversation with her sister and subsequently, both of them decided to come up with a community driven, non-profit organization.

Having grown with domestic pets for the whole of their lives, the sisters continue to spend an enormous amount of time, dedicating their passion into building up this community and to help as many abandoned stray population in Malaysia.

Currently, Dr. Melissa along with her team of community driven people are pursuing all charitable drives on a regular basis with several projects in hand. Despite having their full time occupations elsewhere, all members always make it a point to come together and get each project going.

Their foundation was laid up in 2018 and the achievement they have seen this far is pretty amazing. We strongly believe that they have only just started, despite already making a significant contribution to protect the stray population in Malaysia.

That’s The Pawserby for you all!
